Our newest exhibit, Cubs vs. Cardinals: The Rivalry, offers fans an interactive look at the historic baseball rivalry between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. The museum’s 300,000 annual visitors are a virtual “house divided” when it comes to choosing their favorite baseball team. This exhibit will allow visitors to learn more about each team’s history; showcase original relics from the players, managers, broadcasters, and owners who built each franchise; and encourage visitors to cast a vote for their favorite team. This exhibit is open from March 24 – December 31.

The 49th annual Apple ‘n Pork Festival will take place September 23 & 24, 9am- 5pm both days, at the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum in Clinton, Illinois. The festival, which began with a pot of soup and a stack of sandwiches, has grown to be one of downstate Illinois’ most popular festivals. Today, the festival offers more than 25 booths featuring numerous types of old-fashioned, harvest-time apple and pork foods; tours of the home of Abraham Lincoln’s law partner and personal friend, C.H. Moore; a juried art show; large flea market; demonstrating craftsmen offering their items for sale; an antique tractor and farm equipment exhibit; meal grinding, rope making, chair caning and blacksmithing demonstrations; live musical entertainment; pony rides; tomahawk throwing; Pigs on Parade contest and much more. It’s a labor of love, really… this business of asking owners of Galena’s rich cache of historic buildings to open their homes to the public for an entire weekend. We’re asking a lot, we know. Yet every year, roughly a half dozen properties are, indeed, offered up for touring, giving lovers of history, quality American workmanship and even quirky ingenuity the opportunity to see why Galena’s 19th Century architecture and interiors are second to none. What can we possibly do for an encore on the Tour’s 50th anniversary? We’ve got some ideas…

Altamont Fall Festival

Join us for a fun afternoon. Activities include a Chili Cook Off featuring 10 local chefs (come sample and vote for your favorite), live music, cake and pie auction, silent auction, bake sale and vendors. For kids there will be a fire truck, face painting, free cotton candy and outdoor fun. Available for sale will be mums and pumpkins, as well as pork burgers, brats ‘n kraut, hot dogs, chips and drinks. Sponsored by Altamont Garden Club.
