Guided Winter Hikes @ Starved Rock Lodge
Jan 4 @ 11:00 am – Jan 26 @ 2:00 pm

Every Saturday and Sunday from December through March, hikes depart at 11 a.m. and return about 2 p.m. Join a guided hike with the possibility of seeing frozen waterfalls and eagles in flight. The hike will go from the lodge to LaSalle Canyon. After leaving there, the hike continues to Eagle Cliff and Lovers Leap for the best view of the majestic eagles. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear proper shoes or boots. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera. Advanced reservations are required as space is limited. Great River Eagle Days @ Oakley Lindsay Center

The public is invited to free activities at the civic center, Black Fox Singers, Native American dancers, vendors, food, live raptors and an eagle watch.

Annual Norge Ski Jump Tournament @ Norge Ski Club

Fun for the whole family, this U.S. Cup & International 5 Hills Ski Jumping Winter Tournament starts at noon both days. Ski jumpers from around the world will be competing. Pre-sale buttons available 2 weeks before the tournament: $10 at local merchants, $11 Will-Call online at, $15 at the gate on Tournament days.

Calling all explorers! Spend an Evening Underneath the Stars. Don’t miss your chance to spend a night at the museum. Can’t spend the night? No worries, there is an evening only option available. Overnights are designed for children ages 6-10. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Civil War Weekend @ Anna Arts Center

The 7th Annual Lincoln Legacy Dinner if Friday at 6:30 p.m. and will feature Bryon Andreason, Research Historian from the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum. 618-833-8745 for dinner reservations. Saturday and Sunday includes speakers on local area during the Civil War, historic storytelling, authentic period music, art, food and reenactment.

Masters of the Sky @ National Great Rivers Museum

Witness a birds of prey demonstration by the World Bird Sanctuary. See eagles, falcons, owls and other birds of prey at this educational and informative program. Show times: 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m.
