Prairie Pinwheels Quilt Show and Heritage Days @ Carl Sandburg College

Displaying more than 200 quilts, will include National Quilting Association Judging and viewers choice awards. Challenge quilts, vendors on site including scissor sharpener, door prizes, bed turning, general store, treasure chest and raffle quilt.

Barn Quilt Heritage Trail – McLean County 2014 Opening Event @ David Davis Mansion State Historic Site

This marks the third year for the project, which features McLean County area barns and farm buildings decorated with 8×8′ quilt squares painted on plywood. Activities will include local poets reading original poems about the barn quilts and the auction of 2×2′ painted wooden quilt squares. Guidebooks for the barn quilt sites will be available at noon. The event is free and open to the public. Sponsored through the University of Illinois Extension in Livingston, McLean and Woodford Counties.

Labor Day Festival @ Horseshoe Lake Community Center

Sponsored by the Horseshoe Lake Chamber of Commerce. this festival features a 7 a.m. pancake breakfast, a 10 a.m. barbeque and music in the outside pavilion. Lots of vendors, games for young and old and a raffle. Proceeds benefit the Community Center.

Antique Engine & Tractor Working Farm Show @ AETA Show Grounds

Includes 40 acres of demonstrations and exhibits of agriculture history at its finest and great food! Max Armstrong will film his show from the grounds on Friday. Thresherman’s dinner on Friday and Saturday nights along with a pie auction on Saturday. Shuttle service from Geneseo to show grounds is free.
