Barn Quilt Heritage Trail – McLean County 2014 Opening Event @ David Davis Mansion State Historic Site
Aug 23 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

This marks the third year for the project, which features McLean County area barns and farm buildings decorated with 8×8′ quilt squares painted on plywood. Activities will include local poets reading original poems about the barn quilts and the auction of 2×2′ painted wooden quilt squares. Guidebooks for the barn quilt sites will be available at noon. The event is free and open to the public. Sponsored through the University of Illinois Extension in Livingston, McLean and Woodford Counties.

Labor Day Festival @ Horseshoe Lake Community Center
Sep 1 @ 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

Sponsored by the Horseshoe Lake Chamber of Commerce. this festival features a 7 a.m. pancake breakfast, a 10 a.m. barbeque and music in the outside pavilion. Lots of vendors, games for young and old and a raffle. Proceeds benefit the Community Center.

9th Annual Trains, Planes & Automobiles
Sep 4 – Sep 6 all-day

Join Gen-Air for a fly-in luncheon from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday at Gen-Air Park, 1650th St. off U.S. Hwy. 6W. Friday cruise the Hennepin Canal at Lock 24 off of Grange Road. Saturday the downtown streets fill up with vintage cars from all eras, train engines, airplanes, food and more. 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Free admission. or 309-944-2686.

Macomb Balloon Rally @ Vince Grady Field

Enjoy 30 hot air balloons. There is a mass ascension on Friday evening, a fly-in to Vince Grady Field on Saturday morning, and a flight Saturday evening along with a balloon glow at dusk. or 309-299-6810.

Traditional Music Festival @ Lincoln's New Salem

Antique Engine & Tractor Working Farm Show @ AETA Show Grounds
Sep 12 – Sep 14 all-day

Includes 40 acres of demonstrations and exhibits of agriculture history at its finest and great food! Max Armstrong will film his show from the grounds on Friday. Thresherman’s dinner on Friday and Saturday nights along with a pie auction on Saturday. Shuttle service from Geneseo to show grounds is free.

McLean County Barnkeepers 9th Annual Tour @ Weston-Yates Township

Prairie Celebration @ Rock Springs Conservation Area

Tour an encampment of trappers and traders as they demonstrate their skills, crafts and techniques for creating goods and services during the 1700 and 1800s. There will be items for sale, wagon rides and games for children. Noon-4 p.m. Free admission.

Riverside Blues Festival @ Riverside Park
