3-8, Logan County Fair in Lincoln. Come relax and enjoy the Best of Logan County! Daily activities include 4-H shows, a queen pageant, live entertainment and a carnival full of food, games, and displays. 217-732-3311.

4-8, Kankakee County Fair in Kankakee. Bring the family to see a traditional County Fair! In addition to the time-honored livestock shows, there are games, contests and exhibitions. Check out the live entertainment at one of the pavilions or try your hand at at carnival game. After sampling food from the vendors, why not sit in the grandstands for a view of all the action at the demolition derby? 815-935-7390.

4-8, McHenry County Fair in Woodstock. A true old-fashioned county fair celebrating the agricultural heritage of McHenry County. Midway rides and games, festival food, horse show, Miss McHenry County pageant, livestock exhibition and competition, 4-H exhibit and local entertainment. 815-338-5315.

6, The Seventh Annual Brats, Beer and Blues Festival at the Freeport Art Museum in Freeport. Sample ales, lagers and other brews while enjoying freshly cooked brats and live blues music. 815-235-9755.

6-7, Peach Festival in Cobden. Features of this event include a carnival with rides, games, exhibits and contests, a Peach Queen pageant and lots of food made with peaches. 618-893-2777.

6-7, Pearl City Homecoming Festival in Pearl City. Enjoy a small-town festival with food, carnival rides, children’s games, entertainment, bingo, a parade, fireworks and more. 815-443-2358.

6-7, Lincoln Buy-Way Sales in Fulton. 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Times may vary.) Experience one of the country’s largest yard sales spanning several states along the Lincoln Highway. 815-589-4545 or www.cityoffulton.us.

6-7, The Third Annual Pecatonica River Fest in Lena. This event will provide catered pontoon rides, live entertainment, ultra-light and model aircraft demonstrations and food. All proceeds benefit improvements on the Pecatonica River. 815-369-5351.

6-8, Decatur Celebration’s 25th Anniversary in Decatur. Illinois’ largest free family street festival attracting more than 300,000 people. Known as “The World’s Fair of the Prairie.” 217-423-4222.

6-8, The 30th Annual Festa Italiana in Rockford. Celebrate Rockford’s Italian heritage with three fun-filled days of authentic music and folk dancing, plus carnival rides and booths, kids’ activities and great Italian food. 815-636-2902.

9-15, Dean’s Bluegrass Music Jam in Flora. Come and enjoy an acoustic-only bluegrass jam. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. 618-662-5646.

7,14,21,28, Concerts in the Vineyard at Mackinaw Valley Vineyard in Mackinaw. Live music concerts performed Saturdays from 7-10:45 p.m., featuring local classic rock music groups. Bring your own folding chair or blanket for lawn seating or call to reserve a spot on the deck for a small fee. Pizza and cheese and crackers available or bring your own picnic. 12-15, Northern Illinois Steam Show and Threshing Bee at Taylor Marshall Farm in Sycamore. View threshing demonstrations, gas and steam engine demonstrations and displays. Visit the flea market. Shop for souvenirs and hobbies. Food served. 815-895-9388.

13, Friday the 13th Tour in Alton. Walk the dark streets of downtown Alton and visit several haunted locations. Tour the old Mineral Springs Hotel and attend a séance in the haunted pool. Finish your tour with a tarot card reading. Tickets are $30 for the walking tour, $50 for the dinner tour and $100 for a haunted overnight. 13-14, Merchant Street Music Festival in Kankakee. Come to downtown Kankakee at the Historic Railroad Depot for two nights of music, food and fun! Both nights feature local and area bands that span the spectrum of musical genres; jazz, contemporary, classic rock and traditional favorites. Walk around and learn more about Kankakee County. 13-22, Day Out With Thomas 2010 in Union. Featuring a full-sized train headed by “Thomas” the Tank Engine. Fun for the kids, parents and grandparents as you meet “Thomas” and Mr. Engineer on a trip to Sodor. Live entertainment, music and other trains to ride. http://www.irm.org.

28-29, The Second Annual Civil War Reenactment at the Savanna Depot Park north of Savanna. See history come to life. Walk thru the campsites. Smell the smoke of the canon at battle re-enactments.
