This has been a long time family recipe. It is easy to make and is very tasty. I sometimes put in butterscotch chips along with the choc chips.
1 cup sifted flour, 1 1/2 cup brown sugar divided, 1/2 cup butter, 2 slightly beaten eggs, 1 teas. vanilla, 1 Table flour, 1/2 teas. baking powder, 1/4 teas. salt, 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, 1 cup shredded coconut, 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Combine flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar; cut in butter. Press into greased 9x13x2 inch baking pan. Bake in moderate oven(350) about 12 minutes. For topping, gradually add 1 cup brown sugar into eggs, beat til light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add dry ingredients; stir in nuts, coconut and choc chips. Spread over baked crust. Bake 25 minutes. Cool and cut in bars.
