Chocolate Filled Bon Bons

3/4 cup shortening, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1 egg, 2 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp almond extract, 1 and 3/4 cups flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 cup finely chopped almonds, 3 and 1/2 dozen Hershey’s Kisses
Cream shortening and sugars until creamy. Add egg and extracts and beat well. Add flour, baking powder, salt and almonds; mix until well blended. Form dough into 1 inch balls. Press each ball around an unwrapped chocolate kiss so the kiss is completely enclosed. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet (DO NOT OVERBAKE). Cool on wire racks. Roll in powdered sugar or decorate as desired.
