Santa’s Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

Step 1 Ingredients:

2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. brown sugar (I fluff it, then lightly pack into measuring cup)

Cream Above, then add until completely mixed
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Set aside

Step 2 Ingredients:

4 c. flour
5 c. oatmeal (*See prep note below before starting)
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda

*Measure 5 cups of regular Oatmeal (not instant or fast cooking) and powderize in blender — measure before blending.

Step 3 Ingredients: (None. Just combining mixtures)

Step 4 Ingredients:

24 oz. bag of Milk Chocolate Chips
1 finely grated plain Hershey Bar (average “candy bar isle” size)

(Optional: You may add 3 cups of any chopped nuts if you prefer)

Directions:

(Read through before beginning)
Step 1: Cream together (butter & sugars) then add eggs & vanilla finish mixing and set aside;
Step 2: In larger bowl, mix dry ingredients together (I prefer using large whisk).
Step 3: Add creamy mixture of smaller bowl into larger bowl of dry ingredients & mix well (a heavy duty electric mixer works best)
Step 4: Once mixed well, add Milk Chocolate Chips & grated Hershey Bar
(Tip – once dough is forming add grated Hershey Bar until evenly mixed into dough and then fold Milk Chocolate Chips in by hand)

(Optional: If adding nuts, fold in along with Milk Chocolate Chips)

Roll dough into golf ball size balls and place 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet (I prefer to use parchment paper). Bake at 350 degrees for ONLY 8 to 10 minutes. Cookies may not look “baked” but will be so DO NOT overbake. Makes 112 cookies.

These cookies are spectacular. If some like them better warm, store and freeze some rolled dough in a baggie and bake fresh each time.

These are THE BEST Chocolate Chip cookies I’ve ever had AND that is a PROFOUND statement given my appetite for Chocolate Chip cookies!
This recipe makes a huge amount of cookies which is also great as you can easily freeze some to eat freshly baked when the mood strikes or to give them away at Christmas (which is what I do). Can also give (frozen) rolled dough away along with baked cookies.
The powderized oatmeal and grated Hershey bar add a level of flavor so inviting to the palate (esp if you are a fan of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies) without taking away from it being a chocolate chip cookie, an extremely yummy chocolate chip cookie!
No matter how many goodies are left out on Santa’s Christmas Eve cookie plate, he devours every crumb of these and places an order for them for the following year (at risk of getting coal in our stockings)!
They are also a perfect looking cookie, nice & golden in color with a great texture. (Excuse me, I must go make some – NOW)!!!
