1/2 cup shortening, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 tsp soda, 6 oz pkg chocolate chips, 2 eggs, 1 cup carnation milk, 2 and 3/4 cup flour, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 cup nuts of your choice.
ICING: 2 Tbs butter browned, 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp almond extract, 1/4 cup carnation milk. Mix well and spread on cookies while hot.
Combine shortening, and sugars, beat till smooth add eggs, vanilla, add soda to flour and add it alternately with the carnation milk. Mix well then add chips and nuts. Chill 1 hour or overnight in refrigerator. Drop by teaspoon full on greased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Till edges are slightly brown. 9 minutes if using a dark pan. Remove from pan and immediately spread with icing.
