Illinois History Forum: Illinois Women and the Nineteenth Amendment
1919 was a landmark year for women’s rights in the Land of Lincoln, as Illinois became the first state east of the Mississippi River to grant women the right to vote for president. Join Anne Moseley, Director of Engagement and Curator of Sangamon Experience at UIS, as she tells the story of the women’s suffrage movement in Illinois and the effort it took to secure the vote. This program highlights the exhibit at the Lincoln Heritage Museum at Lincoln College, “Defy the Odds.” To watch this special Facebook LIVE! event on the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Facebook page, just go to Facebook and open our page at the appointed time and scroll to the post highlighting the live event.
