Stories of Survival: Memory Keepers – Making Stories from our Treasures
The objects and artifacts we have gathered on our life journeys are scattered throughout our homes. Some of them have great value only because of the emotional investment we have in them.
You and your family are invited to join storyteller Susan Stone for a special interactive event on Sunday, May 15 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm in the ALPLM library’s Multipurpose Room.
You and your family will gather with others to participate in theatre games and storytelling activities, share a treasured family object, (real or a photograph) and the stories they evoke. Who owned it? Where was it found? How was it used? Why is it so important? Everyone and every object has a tale to tell. Generations will play together and then share the stories through narrative and art. Everyone will have “story art” to take home.
Please bring your important family object or a photograph of it. This workshop is for adults, and children ages 7 and up.
Sunday, May 15 from 2:00pm-3:30pm. The event will begin with participants gathering in the museum Gateway entrance for a brief viewing of the Illinois Gallery exhibit, “Stories of Survival: Object. Image. Memory.” The remainder of the event will take place in the ALPLM multi-purpose room.
