Archeology Day

You’re invited to spend a day exploring the fascinating 12,000-year history of west central Illinois through fun, hands-on activities, informational exhibits, and presentations about the current research being done by CAA archaeologists.
In 2022 through Two Rivers Art Council support, we welcome A.J. Hendershott. A.J. will be demonstrating and instructing visitors on the art of cutting oak splints for basketry. He will also offer a presentation on his basketry work using traditional materials.

In addition there will be a beading demonstration by Kiowa tribe member Kathy Dickerson, a ceramic firing demonstration assisted by Susan Bostwick, and a spear throwing competition using atlatls, experimental archaeology with Larry Kinsella and much more!
