Our newest exhibit, Cubs vs. Cardinals: The Rivalry, offers fans an interactive look at the historic baseball rivalry between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. The museum’s 300,000 annual visitors are a virtual “house divided” when it comes to choosing their favorite baseball team. This exhibit will allow visitors to learn more about each team’s history; showcase original relics from the players, managers, broadcasters, and owners who built each franchise; and encourage visitors to cast a vote for their favorite team. This exhibit is open from March 24 – December 31.

Holly Jolly Jasper County Christmas

Around the Court House lawn the HOLLY JOLLY Celebration occurs in honor of Burl Ives who was the voice of Sam the Snowman in the Famous Movie Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. The activities on Friday nights include a BonFire, Hot Coco & Cookies, crafts, cookie decorating, coloring contest, children’s Holly Jolly Dash, Receipt for Chamber Bucks Program, the Gigantic Holly Jolly Giveaway and much more. Mostly the businesses around the square stay open to 7:00 and hopes the shopping is staying local that night and throughout week. SANTA appears with Mrs. Clause and several of the characters from the movie. Carolers and musicians play to create that Home town Christmas that everyone enjoys. Come to the the Square on Newton this Christmas Season to enjoy the BURL IVES SPIRIT with the HOLLY JOLLY JASPER COUNTY CHRISTMAS!

Pictures with Santa

Drop by the Robert N. Brewer Family Foundation as they open their doors to the community for FREE pictures with Santa. (Please bring your own camera.) Santa will be there from noon – 5pm. If your child(ren) bring a letter to Santa, they will get a response mailed back to them. Also – while there register to win a $100 Toys R Us gift card. Winner will be telephoned by Santa at 5 p.m.!!

New 2018 boats, boating equipment, motors, and trailers will be exhibited at the 47th annual show. Everything from GO-Float to pro-fishing boats, sleek high powered runabouts and pontoons will be shown with manufacturer representatives on hand to answer any questions. The show will also have representatives from fishing and vacation resorts to plan the perfect getaway. Fishermen will have their choice of the latest tackle, guides, charters, and more. Be sure to bring the whole family as there will be plenty for them to see and do. Let them catch a fish in the trout pond, check out the Hawg Trough aquarium filled with fish, and bring them by the United States Power Squadrons and U.S. Coast Guard booths to learn about boating safety.

Join us in historic Downtown Bloomington, IL for our second annual Steampunk festival! This is a family-friendly event for Steampunk fans and newbies alike. Whether you have a closet full of corsets and gadgets or just recently learned about Steampunk, come learn and be inspired.

We kick off Friday, June 1 at 5pm when our district of art galleries, retailers and restaurants stay open late for shopping and fun, followed by a kickoff welcome and evening festivities. You’ll want to stay thru Sunday because we’ll have a full docket of entertainment, special events, vendors, workshops, presentations and of course, tea and steampunk comaraderie!

The festival is free and open to the public, but there will be some special events that will require tickets (available in 2018). Planned events for 2018 include:
• Tesla Coil Demonstration (yes, we’re shooting lighting…)
• Costume contest
• Makers’ Faire (Contest of cool Steampunk gadgets people make)
• Splendid Teapot racing (Google it. You’ll love it.)
