Heavenly Hot Fudge
Submitted by Linetta Null from McDonough Power Cooperative
Ingredients:
1/2 cup ( one stick) of butter or oleo
4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
3 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
12 ounce can of Carnation Evaporated Milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
Using a double boiler, melt the oleo and chocolate in the top pan over boiling water. Gradually stir in the sugar and add the milk a little at a time; alternating sugar, then milk until all the ingredients are added. The mixture will look grainy when the sugar is add, then smooth as the milk is stirred in. Make sure it is completely blended and add the salt.
Continue stirring occasionally and cook over the boiling water for about 8 minutes. The chocolate sauce itself will not boil, but bubble around the edges of the pan. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla.
Makes about a quart. Plenty to gift in pint or half pint jars.
Top with lids and jar rings decorated fancy or casual!
