Applesauce Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup applesauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 F.
  • Blend butter, sugar and egg.
  • Sift dry ingredients together.
  • Add to egg mixture alternately with applesauce using flour mixture first and last.
  • Grease cookie sheets or use parchment paper.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Let sit on cookie sheet for 1 minute before removing to a cool rack.
  • If kept more than 2 days, store in refrigerator. Layer cookies for storage between pieces of waxed paper as cookies are moist and will stick together.
