Buttermilk Cookies

- 2 eggs
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- Cinnamon for sprinkling
- Sugar for sprinkling
Preheat oven to 350 F. Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs and mix well.
Sift together dry ingredients. Add buttermilk alternately with dry ingredients. Add vanilla.
Drop by spoon full onto well-greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Bake for 10-14 minutes.
When I was little, and even not so little, Grandma Jane would always have a cookie jar in the kitchen with these in it. Her kitchen always had the delicious smell of nutmeg and cinnamon.
