Place fruit in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish (a dish slightly smaller seems to work best).
Sprinkle sugar over fruit, then sprinkle the pudding mix over the fruit and sugar.
For the topping, cream together oil, sugar and egg.
Gradually add the flour, baking powder and milk. Stir until well blended.
Pour over fruit mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40-60 minutes. Note: Peaches or blackberries work very well with this recipe.
