Sponge Candy

Ingredients:
1 c. maple flavored syrup
1/2 c. sugar
2 t. white vinegar
2 t. baking soda
Directions:
Combine syrup, sugar and vinegar in heavy 2-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat stirring until sugar dissolves. Cook without stirring to hard-crack stage (300 degrees). Remove from heat, quickly sift baking soda over mixture and stir well. Immediately pour into buttered 9x9x2″ pan. Do not spread. Cool; break into pieces. May also dip in chocolate
