Grannie’s Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients:

2 sticks butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 cups flour
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup pecans, chopped

Cream Cheese Frosting:

3 ounces softened cream cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons milk (maybe a little more to make the icing spreadable)
2 teaspoon vanilla
Dash of salt
4 cups of sifted powdered sugar

I would split the icing in half then add a few drops of red or green food coloring to tint. This makes great icing tinted for Christmas.

Directions:

Cream butter, powdered sugar and flour slowly. Add vanilla and nuts and blend slowly. Make into small balls about the size of a quarter. Place on a cookie sheet and make a thumb print in the middle of each ball. Bake at 325 degrees for about 16 minutes and then check them. Cool and then frost with the homemade frosting or you can buy canned cream cheese frosting and tint. This recipe makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

Janie McCoy

This is one recipe my Mom has always make for Christmas. She is now 85. This recipe makes pretty little cookies for the holidays with the red and green homemade icing. I don’t know where this recipe came from but I have three brothers plus three sons
and this is one cookie they have really enjoyed over the years.
