Chocolate Marshmallow Cookies


1 3/4 cup flour 1/2 cup shortening or margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa 1/4 cup milk
20 marshmallows cut in half 1 egg
1/2 cup pecan halves

1/4 cup margarine softened
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 1/2 tablespoons milk or enough for a smooth consistency
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Mix all ingredients until smooth and creamy. Ice cookies place 1/2 pecan piece on each if desired.


Sift together flour, salt, soda, and cocoa. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, vanilla, and milk beating well. Add dry ingredients until well incorporated. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto well greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes (do not over-bake) Remove from oven place one half marshmallow cut side down on top of each cookie. Return to oven for additional 2 minutes. Cool top with chocolate frosting and pecan half.
