2 2/3 cup sugar, 2/3 cup syrup, 1/2 cup water, 2 egg whites, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2/3 cup of nuts.


stir sugar, syrup and water over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Cook without stirring to 260 degree’s on a candy thermometer, or until it forms hard balls in water. In a mixer bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Continue beating while pouring hot syrup in a thin stream into egg whites. Add vanilla; Beat until mixture holds its shape and becomes dull. Fold in nuts. Drop from battered spoon on wax paper. Then let cool at room temperature. Makes 4 dozen candies.
