2015 Recipe Contest Submissions

PANOCHA

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups brown sugar
Dash salt
1 TBS light syrup
1 TBS butter or margarine’
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup coursely chopped nuts

Directions:

Combine sugar, salt, corn syrup,butter and milk. Cook till sugar dissolves,
to softball stage, 238 degrees. Cool at room temperature, without stirring
till luke warm 110 degree. Add vanilla. Beat until mixture holds its shape.
Cut into squares. Makes 24 pieces.

This was a family favorite when I was a girl. My mother made it every year when we were kids and still when we would all go home for Christmas. It dates back to my Great Grandmother.
