Butter Pecan Turtle Bars

Ingredients:

2 cups flour
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 soft butter
1 1/2 cup pecan halves
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

Combine flour, 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup butter. Blend until crumbly. Pat firmly into 9×13 ungreased pan. Place pecan halves on unbaked crust.
Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2/3 cup butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring until mixture comes to a boil. Boil one minute, stirring constantly. Drizzle caramel over pecans and crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes until caramel bubbles and crust is light brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips – return to oven just long enough to melt chips. NOTE: chips will not change shape, just get shiny. Spread evenly over bars.
Cool very well and cut. Makes approximately 48 small bars.

I’m not sure where I found the recipe but I’ve been making these for many years. These bars are rich so I cut them small, almost bite -sized. They are a pretty bar when cut so I always include them in goodie plates I give away. Sometimes I add a sprinkle of chopped pecans on top of the melted chips to add extra bling! My family says “chocolate, pecans and caramel, what’s not to love!”
