Never Fail Fudge


4 cups sugar
1 stick butter
12 ounce can evaporated milk
12 ounce pkg semi-sweet chocolate pieces
7 ounce jar marshmallow cream
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Melt butter in heavy saucepan. Stir in milk and sugar. Bring to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Continue boiling over medium heat until mixture reaches 234 F or soft ball stage, stirring constantly to prevent scorching. Remove form heat and stir in chocolate pieces until melted. Add marshmallow cream and nuts, stirring until well blended. Pour into greased 13×9-inch pan. Cool at room temperature. Cut into squares. Makes about 3 pounds.
