Farm Credit Illinois (FCI) is offering 30 $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors interested in agriculture careers and planning to enroll in an agriculture-based college program next fall. Two under-represented minority student applicants will be recognized as Diversity in Agriculture Scholars. Recipients must reside, or their family must farm, in one of the 60 central and southern Illinois counties served by FCI.
In addition, FCI is offering 50 $500 grants to 4-H clubs and FFA chapters planning worthwhile community improvement projects. Previous projects have included a tree planting program; developing a bicycle, horse or hiking trail; local park improvements; construction of a resting bench in a public space or a community welcome sign.
