Made With Love ~ Homemade Vanilla Extract

Ingredients:
16 ounces vodka (or bourbon, brandy, or rum)
6-10 whole vanilla beans. I prefer the Madagascar Vanilla Beans that are rich and creamy
2 8 ounce clean bottles with lids (or one 16-ounce bottle)
Directions:
Two to six months ahead of time, prepare this recipe. Wash the bottles and lids in hot soapy water. Rinse well. Air dry. Using a sharp knife, starting about 1/4″ from one end, cut the vanilla bean lengthwise. Insert into the jar. Pour the vodka into both bottles completely covering the beans in the liquid. Top with the lid. Store in a dry cool place. Every week give the bottles a good shake. Mark this on your monthly calendar as a reminder. Apply a personalized label to the jar for gift giving. This is delightful for Christmas baking. Enjoy!
