Grandma Orth’s soft molasses cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour milk or cream or 1 cup salad cream
  • 2 teaspoons soda level
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ginger

Instructions

  • Enough flour to make a soft dough. (About 5 cups) Do not roll out too thin. Do not bake too long, about 10 minutes at 375°. Frost while still warm with powdered sugar frosting. Recipe takes 1 lb. powdered sugar for frosting.
