Line school in full swing

April and May are busy months for lineworker school. The AIEC Safety Department facilitates the Electrical Distribution Linemen Programs at Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC), Springfield. Through the LLCC program and the Illinois Rural Electric Apprentice Program (IREAP), students and cooperative employees receive valuable education.

Cooperative and municipal employees attend the IREAP program to obtain the skills necessary to achieve journeyman lineman status. The LLCC program trains students to become lineworkers and attendees can obtain an associate degree, if desired.

Spring line schools include a 2-week climbing school and 1-week classes in 1st year distribution, 2nd year distribution, advanced distribution, rubber gloving and underground residential distribution. For more information, go to aiec.coop/departments/safety-and-training.
