If interested in pursuing a career as an electrical lineworker, there’s still time to apply for the LaVern and Nola McEntire Lineworker’s Scholarship for 2021. The $2,000 scholarship helps pay for the costs to attend lineworker’s school conducted by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC) in conjunction with Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. The scholarship is open to the son/daughter of an Illinois cooperative employee or director; an individual who has served or is serving in the U.S. armed forces or National Guard; or an individual enrolled in the Lincoln Land lineworker’s school. If you are a former participant in the NRECA’s Youth to Washington Tour, you are eligible to apply for the Glenn English National Cooperative Leadership Foundation (NCLF) Scholarship. Five annual scholarships are available – one $10,000 scholarship and four $1,000 scholarships. To see eligibility requirements, visit aiec.coop/youth-programs/glenn-english-scholarship/. A $2,000 Engineers of the Future scholarship is also available through the Glenn English NCLF to individuals pursuing a career in engineering. The scholarship supports future engineers with an interest and passion for defining and solving the electric utility challenges of the future, specifically in rural parts of America.
