Egyptian Electric seeks general manager

The board of Directors of Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association, ­currently headquartered in Steeleville, Ill., is seeking a highly-qualified ­candidate to fill the ­position of Executive Vice President/General Manager. The headquarters will soon relocate to its new facility just north of Murphysboro.

Applicants should have high integrity, positive ­leadership, and be effective communicators. A four-year college degree and utility management experience is preferred. The successful candidate will possess a broad understanding of the utility business, including financials, operations, and service. Experience in labor relations in a union environment is a plus as is familiarity in generation and transmission issues. The board expects the manager to collaborate with other rural electric cooperatives and to be fully supportive of cooperative principles. Involvement in community and/or civic organizations is desirable.

The cooperative has 39 full-time electric employees ­serving approximately 14,900 consumers over 1,839 miles of line and is a member of Southern Illinois Power Cooperative and the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives. The EVP/GM is a ­voting member on the G&T board.

The cooperative is located in ­southern Illinois between Carbondale and St. Louis. Good local schools include K-12, with a major university and two community colleges ­approximately 15 minutes away.
