Buttermilk Cookies

Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- Cinnamon for sprinkling
- Sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs and mix well.
- Sift together dry ingredients. Add buttermilk alternately with dry ingredients. Add vanilla.
- Drop by spoon full onto well-greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
- Bake for 10-14 minutes.
Notes
When I was little, and even not so little, Grandma Jane would always have a cookie jar in the kitchen with these in it. Her kitchen always had the delicious smell of nutmeg and cinnamon.
