Egyptian Electric joins CHARGE EV

Charge-TMEgyptian Electric Cooperative Association (EECA), Murphysboro, has joined the CHARGE EV, LLC, family of 49 participating cooperatives. CHARGE is a national electric vehicle (EV) charging brand powered by electric cooperatives and invests in EV-focused companies. CHARGE cooperatives are part of a growing brand that signals a nationwide cooperation among cooperatives effort (the 7th Cooperative Principle) to help promote and educate members about EVs.

EECA’s Executive Vice President and General Manager Shane Hermetz sees a bright future for EVs by being part of the CHARGE brand.

“Joining a national brand like CHARGE allows EECA direct collaboration with other cooperatives to build a strong EV program for our members,” Hermetz said. “We are committed to supporting the transition to electric vehicles and to do it in a way that benefits our members and local communities.”

EECA is eager to share more details with its membership as programs evolve.

CHARGE EV was created in 2020 by 31 electric cooperatives throughout Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin to promote EV adoption. As electric cooperatives partner with other companies within the EV industry, CHARGE will expand its national charging network throughout rural America.
