  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 15-ounce can black beans drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions fresh or pickled
  • 3 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons vegan Worcestershire
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seed

  • Preheat oven to 400 F and place a rack in the top slot.
  • In a food processor, process the first 7 ingredients until a loose meal texture forms. Add remaining ingredients and process until well combined. You want it to have a texture similar to ground meat and not too smooth. If the mixture is too dry or won’t come together, slowly add water 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • Once processed, form into 4 equal patties. Place patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes, flipping halfway through.
