AIEC welcomes new safety trainers

The Association of Illinois Electric Cooperative’s (AIEC) safety and training department plays an integral part in providing vital safety training to electrical lineworkers. It provides specialized schools, safety meetings and apprentice training.

The department welcomes two new safety instructors to help with those efforts.

Terry Monroe, formerly a journeyman lineman at SouthEastern Illinois Electric Cooperative, Carrier Mills, also has experience in the coal mine industry and was a member of the Mine Rescue Safety Team. Monroe provides co-op safety training and assists with line school
training support.

Matt Clark worked for Shelby Electric Cooperative, Shelbyville, for 23 years, most recently as a foreman and serviceman. Clark graduated from Northwest Iowa Community College’s powerline program and worked as an apprentice lineman for the city of Geneseo. He will continue to provide support at the line school training facility and conduct co-op electrical safety training across Illinois.
